One of my favorite up and coming writers. Messenger has a talent for bringing the characters and environment to life. This short is a splendid example of that. Well worth picking up, especially for a short metro trip or appointment wait. You won't notice the time and pages fly by.
Clearly a short piece at 34 pages, the narrative cleanly balances between a solid description of the landscape and the brief travels of the two characters. A serious departure from Messenger's other works, "Canyon Bound" opens a window into post-apocalypse struggles--struggles for the basics of life. The piece wraps up nicely and brings the story together in a seemingly unexpected approach. Well, if there were hints, I didn't catch them! Worthy of a quick download and read.
